CLAIRE Study Published in Journal Frontiers in Microbiology

Our latest scientific article on the effect of antibiotics on the saliva microbiome has just been published in the journal Frontiers in Microbiology!

The research was conducted as a collaborative effort between the University of Miami, Lifetime Omics, and George Washington University.

The CLAIRE study revealed the impact of antibiotic choice and timing on the saliva microbiome of hospitalized COVID-19 patients. CLAIRE lays the groundwork for improved antimicrobial stewardship programs, more efficient emergency room triage, and the potential use of the saliva microbiome as a powerful biomarker of disease progression.

The above figure from the study publication shows a graph of the saliva microbiome alpha-diversity for the critical (C) and moderate (M) COVID-19 groups for patients receiving broad-spectrum antibiotics (Yes) or not receiving them (No) before saliva sampling.
